Twitter produces some gems. My friend Joe has just discoverd a new fact,
"The centre of the earth is a billion trillion degrees. That means on a hill it (snow) melts less. Coz you're further from the stinking hotness".
He's a useful man to know if you want random facts.

Google Maps car hits deer
Not sure how you HT someone on Twitter, but thanks to guykawasaki for this.
The Google Maps car, that records images of roads and posts them on the web so you can actually see a street view of where you are, recorded a collision with a deer.
I got passed by one of these cars in Southampton a little while ago. I'm waiting for Southampton to get street views to get my moment of fame.

Ikea Southampton
Southampton’s Ikea furniture store opens next weekend. I was reminded of this when I sat down at my desk this morning to an ABBA backing track. Stopped just outside my window at the traffic lights was an advertising van playing ABBA for everyone to listen to. I think I’m leaving town at just the right time. I'm going to claim that I have been driven out by ABBA!
Ikea have a great business plan. They are undoubtedly one of the most successful furniture retailers ever, but that level of popularity is going to generate some problems – mostly traffic congestion.
Even the local city council in Southampton have admitted that traffic congestion is going to be terrible for the first six weeks that the store is open. [Daily Echo]
I guess it means jobs in the local area when they are most needed, but I think I’d leave the car at home if at all possible.

Best letter of complaint...ever?
Anyone who has to fly regularly may like to take note of this letter of complaint sent to Virgin published on Times Online website.
Of course, anyone who has ever been on a plane will know that meal times are rarely a highlight.

Brandon Dickerson interview
You probably don't remember, but in April 08 I managed to combine my holiday with a few interviews with church leaders working in different situations. Since then a suitable slot for the interviews hasn't been forthcoming, until now.
Seize the Day is a new podcast from Focus. You can listen to it to get more info, but the important bit is that it uses my interview with Brandon Dickerson.
I hope you all enjoy it.

Cheap gifts
Tany and I have been talking a bit about how we can make our money go further when I give up the life of having a monthly salary. I like music and novels so have made the suggestion that if she wants to go shopping to get me something she can visit some of the second hand stores and buy me some random stuff. I’ve got to give her a list of books that I’m looking out for, but on music she can go for anything she thinks I will like, or music that we should have around the house. Anything other than Disco or Abba and I should be pretty happy.

"Well done honey!"
Today my beautiful and clever fiancée finishes her MSc Physiotherapy. It has taken two years of hard work for her to get to this point and not all of it has been plain sailing, but she has persevered and made it out the other side.
This is a very big, very public, CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Tonight I’m designated driver as she goes out on the town and celebrates with her classmates. I did get an invite to join them, and it is very tempting to be seen out and about with 20 young women and just a couple of men (physiotherapy is a very female dominated profession), but I see safety in the corner of a quiet pub with a glass of orange juice waiting for her call.
Next week we can start making plans for moving and weddings and jobs, but for now she can bask in the glory of a job well done.
